Cosmetic mole removal is a safe and effective way to remove unwanted moles from your face and body while reducing the risk of scarring.
Have you ever wondered about removing that ugly mole on your face or body? Are you concerned that if you have it removed it might leave a scar and be more noticeable than before? Perhaps you are rightly worried about the unsightly scars we see with surgical mole removal. Simply put, removing moles surgically almost always leaves a scar, often for the rest of your life.
Secret Skin Shellharbour proudly now offers best-in-class non-surgical mole removal that is not only fast and painless, but also has zero downtime and a low risk of scarring. The expert cosmetic doctors at our Shellharbour clinic use radiofrequency (RF) technology to perform the procedure.
RF allows us to be precise as possible and only remove the minimal amount of tissue required to remove the mole. RF also promotes healing on the skin, enabling it to heal in layers with only a small amount of trauma and, as a result, dramatically reduces the risk of bad-looking scars.
30 minutes

Permanent. There is however a very low risk of recurrence
Radiofrequency (RF) technology has been used in the operating theatre by surgeons for decades. But now, professionals use it outside of the hospital and in the clinic setting. Monopolar electrocautery passes electricity via a probe through the patient to the grounding pad attached to the patient. Away from the active electrode, the current disseminates through the body with minimal current, therefore causing no tissue damage remote to the surgical site (Minieri, 2014, 477-8).
RF allows us to be as precise as possible and only remove the minimal amount of tissue to remove the mole. RF allows your skin to heal in layers with only a small amount of trauma and, as a consequence, dramatically reduces the risk of bad-looking scars.
No treatment is 100% risk-free from scar, but using RF technology is the best way to reduce risk. In the unlikely case that you do end up with a scar post-procedure, we offer all our patients complimentary Procell micro-needling treatment with LED light therapy to improve your results.
One of our expert Cosmetic Doctors carefully assesses your mole and starts by examining it with a dermatoscopy. This device illuminates the lesion and, at the same time, magnifies it to give a good analysis of whether it is cancerous or not. When cleared, we numb the area with a small local anesthetic injection and then ablate it.
We like the site to remain covered with a waterproof occlusive dressing; we recommend cutting to size your dressings using duoderm extra thin (DuoDERM® Extra Thin CGF™ Dressing, 2022), but in reality, any dressing that creates a barrier to the outside world will work fine.
In addition, we ask that you apply a small amount of a commonly used eye antibiotic, Chlorsig ointment. Please remember to keep the Chlorsig in the fridge between applications. Both of these items are easily obtainable at your local pharmacy. We ask that you continue this routine for seven days post-treatment.
